Established in 1989 and owned by ANT1 Group. Antenna is a national, private television network airing in Greece and Cyprus. The alternate spelling is wordplay in Greek; ena (ένα) is the Greek number 1 (one), hence ANT1 is enunciated the same as Antennae. It had been the most popular network in Greece for years with its lineup of hit series including famous dramas Lampsi and Kalimera Zoi. The channel's line-up is consistent with home-grown comedies, dramas, news, current affairs programs, and various recreational shows - but not much in the way of children's programming. The most famous conceptual executive producer was the iconic Nico Mastorakis who returned from living in the US with him several ideas. Programs like Wheel of Fortune (Greek version), and Oi Men Kai Oi Den were immediately among the top-10 shows in Greece. Antenna was founded by Minos Kyriakou's father in 1989 and it is now the largest Greek-language media company in the world with production companies, radio stations, magazines, and television channels at home. It also owns channels in the US and Australia, serving the large Greek-speaking populations in those countries.
